Chapter Ten Revisited and other (Musical) notes:

So, being embroiled in the (apparently endless) house-move that has been our summer means not enough time to write or cook or play or read.  There is just far too much tedious adulting filling our lives right now…

But all of the packing, carrying, driving, unpacking, and progressively more ruthless purging of our possessions does mean that we are listening to plenty of music!

With this in mind, I have another song to add to the Blackstaff collection:

Bal Wszystkich Świętych, Budka Suflera (English translation below): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE87oI5rdew

I am not entirely sure why this piece says Khelben to me. At least, it seems appropriate for the ghostly version of Khelben that our GM introduced us to. The one still lingering in the Blackstaff’s Tower in our home game. Perhaps it is the peculiarly grumpy angst that he exhibits: the bitterness of grief is there but it is colored by the wryly clear-eyed understanding that not everyone gets a good or a fair ending. All combined with being really pissed off that he falls into the pitiable, unhappy category. I feel like this song captures all of that really well…

Also, added musical bonus: we always get a ridiculously out-sized thrill from the symmetry of finding songs by the same artist/band to match with PCs and NPCs that are also somehow connected to one another. It’s just silly-level satisfying and neat.

Being on a Ghost kick recently, our GM is sharing his chosen songs from this awesome group. A song to represent each member of the Trollskull Trio. Each piece is uniquely well-suited and meaningful to each of our OCs. Or would be if our little group was being viewed from the outside. Perhaps by Someone, or Something, less charitably inclined towards us than we are towards one another. Hmm…

For the One who thinks he has all the Answers:

Oh wait, Elodie gets two because I’m greedy. I mean, because we couldn’t pick which one was better ;).

As always, these songs have been added to our Tears of the Seldarine playlist on Spotify:

Bal Wszystkich Świętych, translated:

The Saints’ Masquerade

This Sunday is like a film, a cheap B-movie

A man wanders around in front of a mundane background

The screenwriter took the cash, then he started drinking

And the dialogue turned into a dud, zero, nothing.

All the saints are partying in Heaven,

Golden dust floats down

And I am wandering here, again, without You

And I am so close to Hell.

I want to see you once more, on that one and only day

Or to turn back a week of time, but it cannot be done,

Although I know the taste of loneliness, know it to the point of pain,

When there are no more Sundays, well, what can I do…

All the saints are partying in Heaven,

Golden dust floats down

And I am wandering here, again, without You

And I am so close to Hell.

The world is just spinning with me,

The stars flame like steel,

You’ve erased me from your memory,

Even I feel sorry for myself.

Today in Heaven all of them, all the saints have their ball

Today in Heaven all of them, all the saints have their ball…
